Under the Stars

The night sky stretched endlessly above them, a dark canvas peppered with stars that flickered like distant fireworks. Sam and Claire lay on a blanket spread out in their backyard, surrounded by the soft rustling of leaves and the gentle symphony of crickets hidden in the grass. The warm air felt like a soft embrace against their skin, and Claire could feel the slight dampness of dew beginning to settle under them.

Sam stretched out beside her, their bodies just close enough for her to feel the warmth radiating from him. He turned on his side, propping himself up on one elbow to look at her. "You ready for this?" he asked with a playful twinkle in his eye, holding up a soft black blindfold. Claire laughed softly, the idea of losing sight beneath the open sky both thrilling and slightly nerve-wracking.

As the blindfold slipped over her eyes, she was enveloped in darkness, her other senses sharpening in the absence of sight. She felt Sam’s fingertips, soft and slow, tracing a line from her wrist up to her shoulder — his touch deliberate, as if he were relearning her skin. With each careful stroke, she discovered how the absence of sight made every touch feel electric, goosebumps rising in the trail of his fingers.

Her surprise came with a gentle gasp when Sam’s lips found her throat, a warm, insistent pressure that made her pulse race. "I hadn’t expected it to feel this good," she murmured breathlessly, her words an admission to herself as much as to him. As his lips traveled lower, brushing along her collarbone, she was acutely aware of the sensation of his breath, warm and rhythmic, leaving a trail of heat that contrasted sharply with the cool night air.
