The snow had turned their backyard into a pristine white wonderland, the world quieted by the thick blanket. Hannah took a small breath as they stepped out onto the covered patio, pulling Owen along behind her. Their bare feet tingled against the cold planks, a stark contrast to the heated air that escaped from the house.

As Owen draped a soft, oversized blanket around them both, the thrill of risk made Hannah shiver more than the chill. He glanced at her, sensing her excitement through their shared warmth.
